Friday for Lunch

Just bought some fresh herbs for the garden, should save me some money on the quantity of herbs I use and buy! I had a pot with Rosemary and Thyme, Rosemary is looking scraggly now (but still usable) and the thyme died. As I looked closer in the pot I did spot a couple of thyme leaves coming back (hooray)! Our garden certainly needs a good watering this evening.
It has been a perfect slow, warm and sunny Summer day here at the beach.
We had a swarm of bees that flew in 2 days ago and nestled in a hibiscus bush adjacent to our front porch near at the entrance to very busy restaurant. For the safety of pedestrians (children and babies) as well as the guests of the restaurant they had the bees exterminated, which makes me incredibly sad, yet I do understand the logistics of why they chose to have them killed. I wish there were more bee keepers in order to have them safely removed.
I came home from the grocery store this afternoon to discover that the store clerk that had bagged my meats punctured the plastic wrap and it was a marinated item so the juice spilled all over. Yuck! In order to salvage my purchase and instead of re-wrapping it I threw together a simple stir fry with mushroom, sugar snap peas, green onion and added a little of my homemade chili sauce to the terryaki marinade. Served it over white rice for myself and children for an impromptu, very nice lunch.

One of a kind of...

I do not have a problem with being unique, or should I say not being unique. I mean, I suspect beyond a hunch that I am exactly like many people-most people even-but not all people in more than a handful of ways. I like the uniqueness of others. I am not unique though. I am like many people that are as just different as I am. “I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks.” Harper Lee Americans love sugar, we even coat our fondest words with it. And fat, we love to chew our fat too. It seems most of us will eat whatever is placed in front of us. I lived in Texas briefly and many, many men (and a few women) called me ‘Sugar’ or ‘Hon’ or ‘Doll’, I only took personal offense with ‘Sugar’ and actually adopted the habit of saying ‘Hon’. Not many people say ‘Hon’ in California, I guess that’s different. Californians don’t actually say ‘DUDE’, not all Californians are actors, athletes, hippies or hobos although we do have these citizens. Most Californians say, ‘it’s all good’ or ‘no wor...

10 Types of Water & More..

10 Types of Water and More Diluted Truths Water you talkin’ about? Water is of course one of the most basic of life substances on planet Earth. It is the tell tale "sign of life" that astronomers seek evidence of beyond our blue planet. While the significance of water is common knowledge you may be surprised to learn that many people don’t know what 'distilled water' is, or the difference between hard and soft water even. Don't you think we should all know the elementary basics about water? Not just for our own survival but also to debunk or sink all of the diluted truths that are not so crystal clear or don't hold water. 10 Types of Water 1.De-ionized De-ionized water is not exactly ion free , as one may assume. The process of de-ionizing by physicists is called "ion exchanging", whereby the water is passed through a specific resin to eliminate “most anions and cations”. Those are then replaced by combinations of Hydrogen and Oxygen that ...

Forget Fireworks-The Biggest Volcanoes on Earth!

You’re absolutely right. We should all be very afraid that a large meteorite is headed on a collision course with Earth and will cause catastrophic damage not just to the blue planet, but to the human race as we know it.  Aren’t you glad you pulled all of your money out of the bank back in December 1999? You were one of the lucky few to suffer the inconvenient and non-existent effects of the Y2K crisis ! Photo By C. Heliker (US Geological Survey) [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons Well, at least you’re paying attention to what’s going on around you.  You probably already know that at any point in time there are around 20 volcanoes erupting at any point in time, including those safely buried at the depths of our oceans shifting the plates of our Earth around.  For eons volcanoes have been a natural source of obsession for us little people around the globe; in spiritual offerings, as a photographers fanatical and fatal subject, for scientists, mount...
